During the Spanish courses we do many field trips. Some
show you the culture and history of the capital and its
surrounding area, as well as the natural environment of
the province of Madrid, such as the Guadarrama mountain
range with its woods, rivers and other natural beauty
spots.
Adventure in the Mountains.
A day trip staying in the mountain range of
El Tiemblo is included.
|
|
|
| |
|
- Other trips will give you the chance to take part in some
typical fiestas all over Spain, such as: San Fermin (running
with the bulls in Pamplona - July 7th), San Isidro Festival
in Madrid, The August Fair in Málaga, The Tomato Festival
of Buñol (The "Tomatina"), The April Fair in Seville, The
Fallas in Valencia.
During these trips, students will be encouraged to talk to
the local people and enter into situations where they have
to practice speaking in Spanish.

There is an enormous variety of cultural and non-cultural
entertainment, all of which is available on a limited
budget. Madrid is truly a city that never sleeps. The
numerous bars and restaurants provide high quality and,
on the whole, healthy food (including vegetarian). The
pubs and clubs never seem to close and it is not unusual
to find traffic jams at 4.00am.

|
|
Traveling within the country is cheap and there are a number
of interesting places to visit within a short distance of
Madrid (Toledo is a particularly popular day trip and famous
for its beautiful architecture).

The Spanish people are noted for their hospitality and friendliness,
and therefore it is a safe and enjoyable city to visit. The
city itself is covered by an extensive underground subway
and bus network, which are very cheap and efficient and make
getting around the city simple and quick.

Being the highest capital city in Europe, Madrid enjoys a
typical continental climate, pleasant in spring and autumn,
hot in summer and cool in winter.
As there are many openings here for newly qualified teachers,
Madrid is the ideal place for taking a Spanish course.

GEOGRAPHICAL SITUATION
El Tiemblo is situated on the northern slope of the Gredos
mountain range, on a pool that extends from the foot of the
inclines of the surrounding mountains.
The southwesternly aspect is protected by the Alto de El
Mirlo, which is 1,725 meters high; the hill La Parra, which
is 1,637 meters high; the hill Encinilla, which is 1,604 meters
high; the Portacho de los Ballesteros, which is 1,305 meters
high, and shares a border with Casillas, Rozas de Puerto Real
y Navahondilla.
The river Alberche crosses its municipal area. Extensive hydraulic
building works have resulted in the creation of the reservoirs
El Burguillo, el Charco del Cura and Puente Nuevo.

75 Km². It is flanked by Cebreros to the north and northeast;
by San Martín de Valdeiglesias to the east; by Rozas de Puerto

springs, streams and gorges (Venero del Resecadal, Chivitiles,
Fuente Ancha, Los Andrinos, Turmales, San Jurdón, Los Chorrancos,
El Caballo, La Yedra...), which flow into the river Alberche,
and traverse this area from northwest to southeast. It is
